Cyanotypes on fabric, some bleached with washing soda and toned with hibiscus tea, s-hooks, wire shelves, hanging rod

This satirical attempt at forgery points to the absurdist “solutions” the Venezuelan government has enacted to address the economic crisis. Using a combination of scans of Venezuelan currency, altered bills, and failed 3D prints, I created cyanotypes that were then toned in order to achieve their color variance. The colors reference both the variety of shades that bolivares come in and come together to form the colors of the Venezuelan flag. Taking inspiration from the rudimentary nature of the Venezuelan government’s attempts at addressing hyperinflation, this work depicts a DIY-esque attempt at printing currency.
