Veneko Mori
2026 - ongoing
This series grieves the unnecessary loss of lives at the hands of the Venezuelan government’s negligence throughout the ongoing crisis. Taking visual inspiration from memento mori and vanitas still lifes, these drawings depict wilting flora and injured fauna native to Venezuela. Memento mori, or “remember you must die”, focuses on the ephemerality of life. These works build on that concept, pondering the state’s role in life’s fragility and the fragility of the state itself.
